PPS Superintendent Releases Letter on Brookline Principal's Arrest

In response to the arrest of Pittsburgh Brookline principal Alfonzo DeIuliis, a letter from Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Linda Lane will be sent home to parents.

Here is the text of the letter:

"August 28, 2013 

Dear Brookline Families,

We regret to inform you that the principal of Pittsburgh Brookline was arrested yesterday related to an incident alleging inappropriate conduct toward a 17 year old. The incident did not involve a Pittsburgh Public Schools student and took place outside the City of Pittsburgh.

As a result of the investigation, the principal was placed on leave of absence yesterday at 11:00 a.m. and will remain on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Until a new acting principal is named, assistant principal Mr. May will serve as interim leadership.

The school’s Welcome Back-to-School event has been postponed until Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
