Thanksgiving 2017: What's Open, Closed In The Dormont Area

DORMONT, PA - It’s nearly time to sit down with friends and family and enjoy a tasty Thanksgiving feast, football and post-meal food coma. While some people do have to work on the holiday, particularly those employed by stores jumping the gun on Black Friday, government offices, most businesses and many retailers will be closed.

Here’s your guide to the closures:

• Schools: Keystone Oaks School District students have an early dismissal Wednesday and return to school Tuesday.

• Government: All borough, Allegheny County, state and federal officers are closed. State offices and courts and city offices also will be closed Friday.

• Banks: Closed

• State liquor stores: Closed.

• U.S. Postal Service: Post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery.

• Port Authority of Allegheny County: Bus, light-rail and incline service will operate on their respective holiday schedules.

• Dormont Public Library: Closed.

• Malls: Monroeville Mall, South Hills Village: Closed, although some department stores, movie theaters, restaurants, and retailers with exterior mall entrances could be open.
