Wahlburgers Could Be Bound For The South Hills

Wahlburgers restaurant, founded by actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and a brother, said to be targeting Cranberry, South Hills locales.

Dormont and Brookline residents, be aware: Wahlburgers soon might be coming to the South Hills. The Boston-based burger chain, founded by actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and their brother, executive chef Paul Wahlberg, announced it plans to open two restaurants in the Pittsburgh area.

“I'm a big fan of Pittsburgh. It’s a great city with hardworking people that deserve our best,” Mark Wahlberg said in a news release. “We look forward to bringing Wahlburgers to the area and seeing the Steelers and Patriots meet in next year's playoffs.”

Although the restaurant locations weren’t disclosed, KDKA-TV, citing unidentified sources, said Wahlburgers will be arriving in the South Hills and Cranberry.

Though Walburgers obviously is first and foremost a burger joint, the menu features other items such as crispy haddock, seared chicken and vegetarian options. The chain’s website also touts the restaurant’s thin crispy onion rings, tater tots, frappes and floats.

Pittsburgh isn’t the only city soon getting its first Wahlburgers. Business Insider recently reported the company signed agreements with franchisees to open 30 new restaurants in seven states. Wahlburgers plans to open a total of 118 new restaurants in the next five to seven years.

Cities getting a Wahlburgers include New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Cleveland and Detroit.
