2 More Coronavirus Vaccination Sites Added In Delaware County
The county is partnering with Keystone First Wellness Center and Penn Medicine to provide more coronavirus vaccine opportunities.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Two more places are offering coronavirus vaccines in Delaware County as officials work to inoculate more residents.
County officials Thursday announced the opening of vaccination sites at Keystone First Wellness Center in Chester and at Penn Medicine in Radnor.
The Chester site opened Thursday, providing Moderna doses to Chester community residents and will be offering resources for improving overall health and well-being for members of the community at the center in the near future.

The Radnor site will begin administering the Pfizer vaccine on Feb. 26. Those who have already preregistered for a vaccine through Delaware County government are eligible to get a Pfizer vaccine at the new Radnor vaccination site.
Vaccination efforts resumed at the county-run sites at the Yeadon Wellness Center and the Aston Community Center. Appointments for vaccination at those sites last week were canceled due to shipping issues stemming from the winter weather.

Regarding dose allocations for the county, the county got 1,000 Moderna vaccines for this week and 2,900 Moderna vaccines for next week. Additionally, the county received 1,170 first doses of Pfizer vaccine this week and was able to almost immediately launch a vaccination site at Radnor Penn Medicine to administer the Pfizer vaccine, which requires a different cold-chain storage than the Moderna vaccine and specific training to administer it.

Based on vaccine supplies received each week, the county may have to reschedule appointments.
"We recognize this may cause frustration and inconvenience for residents," officials said in a news release Thursday. "Our goal is to provide the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine within the window as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
As of Thursday, the county has asked for 21,370 vaccine doses and received 10,470 doses.
State data shows in Delaware County, 39,631 people have gotten single doses of the vaccine and 26,432 people have gotten two doses.
The county is one of more than two dozen vaccine providers in the county and vaccine doses are sent to vaccine providers by the state. Residents are reminded that the process to register for the vaccine varies by provider and there is not a centralized vaccine registration from the state.

An estimated 246,680 people in Delaware County who are in Phase 1A and eligible to receive the vaccine. As of Thursday, 39,631 people have been vaccinated in Delaware County.
