3 Main Line Residents Make Forbes's Richest List

Six Pennsylvania residents made the list of the nation's richest people from Forbes, and four are in the Philadelphia area.

MAIN LINE, PA — It's no surprise that the affluent Philadelphia suburbs are home to some of Pennsylvania's richest people. Forbes released its 2020 Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans Tuesday, and a few Main Line billionaires made the cut.

Main Line residents

Michael Rubin, John Middleton, and Jeffrey Lurie were ranked 228th, 238th, and 319th respectively, among the nation's richest.

Rubin, 48, is worth $3.5 billion, according to Forbes.

He is the CEO of Kynetic, the holding company for e-commerce retailers Fanatics, Rue La La and ShopRunner. He earned his fortune after dropping out of Villanova University and forming GSI Commerce, which he subsequently sold to eBay for a sizeable $2.4 billion in 2011.

Middleton, 65, is worth $3.4 billion.

He sold his family's tobacco business John Middleton Inc., which was formed in the mid 1800s and made products such as Black and Mild cigars, for $2.9 billion in 2007.

Forbes estimates the 69-year-old team owner is worth $2.9 billion.

Lurie took over the Eagles franchise in 1994 for $185 million

The Forbes 400 has features six billionaires, four of which live in and around Philadelphia.

According to Forbes, Victoria Mars is worth $7.2 billion, making her Pennsylvania's richest resident and the 74th riches in the nation.

Mars is the heir to and Board of Directors Chairman of Mars Inc. candy and pet food company.

Amazon's Jeff Bezos leads the overall list with a net worth of $179 billion. The best second-place of all-time belongs to Microsoft's Bill Gates at $111 billion and third is Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg at $85 billion.

President Trump landed at No. 339 following a $600 million loss in net worth, Forbes said. He's still worth $2.5 billion.
