3 More Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile In Haverford

The three samples were among 10 located in Delaware County

Three more mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Haverford, state officials announced Thursday.

The samples were among 10 in Delaware County that tested positive for the virus in the most recent sampling.

Over the past several weeks, numerous infected mosquitoes have been located in Haverford, including on July 19 and Aug. 25.

Thus far this year, two humans have tested positive for West Nile in Pennsylvania, including one in Philadelphia. According to the CDC, about 1 out of every 5 infected humans will develop a fever and other symptoms from West Nile. Less than one percent of humans infected develop a fatal neurological illness, the CDC said.
