Haverford Township officials said companies involved in the development of 403 West Chester Pike are bound by a non-disclosure agreement.

HAVERTOWN, PA — The former LA Fitness space on West Chester Pike in Havertown has been a hotbed of rumors regarding what business would take up the space. And it appears as though Amazon is the most likely to fill the former gym.
According to a filing with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, Amazon Retail LLC has a pending liquor license at 403 West Chester Pike, Havertown.
Patch has reached out to Amazon for comment on the pending liquor license, but has not head back.

While it's unclear if Amazon will actually fill the space with a retail business, it should be noted the company operates Amazon Go and Amazon Go Grocery stores. These stores let customers shop without stopping at a checkout stand by scanning an app on their phone as they enter.
Many residents heard rumors of what could fill the space, with some saying a grocery store such as Lidl or Aldi, a bank, and even a Walmart.

Kelly Kirk, Haverford Township's Zoning Officer & Community Planner, told Patch various companies the township has been in contact with regarding the property were bound to a non-disclosure agreement.
The property is located in Haverford Township's Ward 2. Ward 2 Commissioner Mario Oliva told Patch the developers have secretive about what is happening at the property.
Many residents shared rumors of what could fill the space, with some saying a grocery store such as Lidl or Aldi, a bank, and even a Walmart might take up the space.
Kirk said the most prevalent rumor was an Aldi would come to the property.
"However, I have not seen any evidence that supports this theory more than any other grocery store," she said.
When contacted by Patch, both Aldi and Lidl said there were no plans to install their stores at 403 West Chester Pike.
Patch reached out to Kirk again for comment and additional information on the liquor license application and the potential installation of an Amazon grocery store.
