Delco Seeking More Workers For Primary Election

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The Delaware County Elections Department is seeking additional paid poll workers for the upcoming May 18 municipal primary election.
Since last fall, the Elections Department has developed new training materials and online training options and is asking qualified registered voters to step forward to help during the upcoming primary.
Delaware County has one of the more generous poll worker pay scales in the country. Poll Workers are paid by the county and are not volunteers.

Judges of Elections receive $150 per service precinct (maximum two precincts), not including training pay.
Majority party inspectors and minority party inspectors, machine operators, and clerks receive $140 per service precinct (maximum two precincts), not including training pay.

Additional training pay of $130 is paid to all the above whom complete in-person or online review of the Election Day guide, pass the poll worker test, and then serve successfully on Election Day in a precinct or as a standby ready to be assigned.
To qualify to serve as a poll worker, individuals must be a registered voter in Delaware County.

Poll workers provide a critical role in protecting the integrity of the election and ensuring all
eligible voters cast their ballot.
Responsibilities include signing in registered voters, issuing ballots, explaining voting procedures and the use of voting equipment, and monitoring the conduct of the election.
Elections require poll workers who are honest, hard-working, and ready to work well with others.
Workers must be able to serve from approximately 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Understanding election processes is necessary for all Poll Workers, and the Delaware County Elections Department has created several easy-to-understand training options that ensure that both new and experienced Poll Workers are prepared and comfortable on Election Day. Multiple in-person trainings and Q&A teleconferences are available before Election Day on May 18.
