Footlighters Theater in Berwyn was asked by the National Dog Show

After a sold out weekend, "The Perfect Dog" musical returns for one encore presentation including a talk-back with John O'Hurley

Footlighters Theater in Berwyn was asked by the National Dog Show ("NDS") to put up the family-friendly show, "The Perfect Dog" leading up to its annual event at the Oaks Expo Center (this year November 17 and 18). The musical production ran to sold out audiences this past weekend, with over 300 attendees raving about the show, the music, the cast, and the story.

One encore performance is available this Thursday, November 16th at 7:00pm. This special fundraiser on behalf of the 89-year old, all-volunteer community theater will also include a special guest. Actor John O'Hurley (best known as J. Peterman on the Seinfeld television show) will be on hand for Thursday's performance and will stay for a post-performance "talk-back" with the audience.

In addition to his many acting and voice-over roles, O'Hurley is the host of the National Dog Show by Purina, which airs each Thanksgiving after the Macy's Parade. O'Hurley has hosted the annual event for the past 15 years, and his canine affections have led him to pen a number of books about these four-legged friends. One of them, "The Perfect Dog," is a children's book written for O'Hurley's young son. The delightful book was subsequently used as the inspiration for a family musical of the same name.

The musical’s storyline entails Sam, a twelve year-old perfectionist, who enlists the help of her best friend, Charlie, in her search for a flawless dog to enter in the town’s dog contest. Unable to find a canine that measures up, Sam must resort to training the family dog, Max, who is eager but seems to Sam as less than perfect. In the end, Sam and Max learn that there is no such thing as perfect, but there is such a thing as being perfect for each other. Music is by David Abbinanti (Ghost, Saturday Night Fever, Ring of Fire) and the script is by Jill Abbinanti (Law & Order, CSI-SVU, Pan-Am).

Tickets to the special encore performance are just $25 with all proceeds going to the theater's building fund. Tickets are available at www.FootlightersTheater.com. Advance ticket purchase is always recommended to avoid disappointment.
