Free Shade, Flowering Trees Available To Haverford Residents
There are 100 flowering and shade trees that are free to Haverford residents who act fast and sign up to reserve one starting Oct. 26.
HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Residents of Haverford Township can sign up to get a free shade tree for their property.
The Haverford Township Shade Tree Commission is offering 100 free yard trees to Haverford Township residents for pre-scheduled, socially distant pick-up on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 7 in the CREC parking lot.
Residents must sign up to reserve a tree.

Sign ups start at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26. The sign up link will be active at that time and date online here.

Residents will be able to pick up trees between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Nov. 7.
When signing up, provide your email address for more information about the contact free instructions or for any changes in the event.
Residents are encouraged to research more than one tree so to have backup choices in the event that first choice trees have already been reserved by other residents.
Listed below are the different species of trees that will be offered and a link with more information about each tree.
Shade Trees:
- Sugar Maple, Acer saccharum
- Yellow wood, Cladrastis Kentukea
- White oak, Quercus alba
- Swamp white oak, Quercus bicolor
- Willow oak, Quercus phellos
Flowering Trees:
- Serviceberry, Amelanchier canadensis
- Eastern redbud, Cercis canadensis
- Pagoda dogwood, Cornus alternifolia
- American smoke tree, Cornus alternifolia
- Carolina silverbell, Halesia carolina
