Haverford Hawks Celebrating 45 Years Of Local Youth Hockey

The Hawks will celebrate their history and commemorate Veterans Day with members of the Philadelphia Flyers Warriors this weekend.

HAVERTOWN, PA — The Haverford Hawks Youth Ice Hockey Club is celebrating its 45th anniversary and in its celebration is hosting a special event Sunday, Nov. 10.

The club, which is one of the oldest in the Delaware Valley Hockey League, will celebrate their history and commemorate Veterans Day with members of the Philadelphia Flyers Warriors (Warriors), a team of injured and disabled U.S. Veterans with passion for hockey on Nov. 10.

The event will be held at 5:20 p.m. at the Skatium, 1002 Darby Road in Havertown.

Sponsored by USA Hockey, the Warriors ice hockey program has a sled hockey and stand‐up hockey division for those wounded while serving their country.

  • Veterans Days ceremony and National Anthem
  • On‐ice activities for Hawks players including a skills competition with Philadelphia Flyers alumni Bob Kelly (1970‐80) and Brad Marsh (1981‐88)
  • Bake sale and 50/50 Raffle to raise money for the Flyers Warrior Hockey Team travel

The Haverford Hawks offers a learn‐to‐skate and house league for young players. A USA Hockey Tier II Club, the Hawks field a mix of travel teams from Mites (8 & Under) through Midget Major (18 & Under) at the AA, A, & B levels.

The Haverford Hawks are one of few clubs in the U.S. with a 20‐year trans‐Atlantic cultural exchange between hockey clubs. The club is proud to sustain this 20‐year connection with the Viikingit Ice Hockey Club in Helsinki, Finland.
