"I’ve let myself be fully vulnerable in telling my experiences of oppression and calling for change," said Luong. "Winning the Princeton Prize is not just a victory for me – it is a victory for all, as it shows that students like me can be leaders, our work is important, and deserving of respect."

Luong received the prize in recognition for his work with the Diversity Alliance and also for founding the National Diversity Coalition, an organization of more than 80 student-leaders in diversity, equity, and inclusion in 20 states.
