Why are you seeking elective office?

I am seeking election as a School Board Director to be of service to our school district, and the residents of Haverford Township. I am an advocate for public education, and view our education system as a focal point in our community. I am an advocate for inclusive learning environments, social-emotional wellness, and all components of the BASIS work. I believe that quality public education has an opportunity and a responsibility, to serve and include all members of its community, while providing each student an opportunity for success. I am committed to advocating for policies and programming that support our students achieving life-long success. I am committed to advocating for responsible funding that will aid and support our educators with proper resources in our school buildings. I am committed to advocating for responsible funding that will properly maintain our school buildings, as school buildings are a prime resource in our community and a major financial investment for local tax payers. I am committed to being a positive force in this community!

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Safe in-person school and BASIS programming are two pressing issues that the school board is currently facing. I support strategies for maintaining safe in-person learning for all students, provided that this plan is compliant with current scientific data. I will remain an advocate for BASIS programming, equitable education, and inclusive learning environments.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My professional experience of providing 16 years of behavioral health treatment and post-secondary education as professor, brings the unique perspective of a clinician-educator. Within in my behavioral health treatment history, I have extensive experience with the impact of abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, and family addiction on the individual student.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Our current board has not failed our community. I believe that in any situation, there is always an opportunity for growth and improvement. As our students/schools/community are all growing and learning, the board also has a responsibility to grow and learn.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

I believe in transparency, accountability, and ongoing communication with the community.
