Local Youth Theatre Group Holds Chipotle Fundraiser

Next Monday, local youth theatre group, Young Performer’s Theater, will be hosting its first restaurant fundraiser with Chipotle Mexican Grill!

The fundraiser will take place on Monday, February 15 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Havertown (Quarry Center) Chipotle. Young Performers Theater is a 100% non-for-profit youth theatre group with participants ages four to fourteen from the local area. The productions are entirely created and directed by high school students with a passion for theatre-arts opportunities.

“We are so lucky to be able to hold a restaurant fundraiser this year, despite all the uncertainties we have been facing”, says artistic director, Zachary Graaf. “It’s great to see businesses in our community supporting us, even during the pandemic.”

Chipotle will be donating 33% of the profits made back to Young Performer's Theater in preparation for their upcoming production of Dr. Seuss’s ‘The Lorax’ this summer. Young Performer's Theater donates the money made from ticket sales at their annual production to a music and arts-related charity at the end of the year. In the past, the group has donated to the Robert Morris School in Philadelphia, Kelly Music for Life, and Actors Without Boundaries.

Stage manager Onora Healey had similar positive remarks on the fundraiser.

“I am so excited for the Chipotle Fundraiser this year! It’s fantastic to see support for YPT coming from our community”, she says.

Due to the pandemic, Young Performer's Theater was forced to cancel their production of ‘Anastasia’ planned for June 2020. Over quarantine, they held a variety of theatre-related workshops that improved the performers' acting, singing, and dancing abilities. Despite the challenges associated with planning and executing a show in these times, the production team is determined to successfully hold their summer programming.

“We’re looking forward to this summer, even with all the challenges we’ve faced in the past ten months”, says Graaf. “Our fundraiser next week is only proving things are gradually improving and the prospects for this summer and higher than ever!”
