Missing Delco Boy's Death Ruled Accidental Drowning

The investigation continues into the drowning death of 11-year-old Laquan "Quan" Lattimore, whose body was found in Darby Creek Wednesday.

The body found in a creek in Folcroft Wednesday has been identified as 11-year-old Laquan “Quan“ Lattimore, who had gone missing days before.

The Delaware County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed their report Friday morning, deeming the cause of death to be accidental drowning.

Lattimore’s body was discovered in Darby Creek, in Prospect Park Wednesday afternoon. It had been during a search for Lattimore conducted by Folcroft police and the FBI.

A student at Sharon Hill Elementary School and a Folcroft resident, Lattimore went missing on Monday, last seen riding his bicycle in the area of King Avenue and Chester Pike, about two miles away from where his body was found.

According to the medical examiner’s report, he died that same day.

The Delaware County Daily Times reported that Towanan Thompson, Lattimore’s legal guardian since age 4, was inside True Love Church when she learn that the body removed from the creek had been identified as Laquan. A prayer vigil was later organized with friends and relatives.

Police are continuing their investigation along the Darby Creek, still searching for answers as to where and how Lattimore entered the water.
