Petition To End Pop-Up Voter Service Center At Subaru Park Denied
Eight people challenged the pop-up Voter Service Center at Subaru Park in court, but a judge said the event can go on as planned.
CHESTER, PA — Delaware County and the Philadelphia Union's pop-up Voter Services Center three-day event will go on this weekend after a judge weighed in due to a republican challenge to the event.
The county and soccer team announced the pop-up event earlier this week.
But according to the county, local Republicans sought an injunction to block pop-up.

The injunction was sought by Mark Carroll, Jodi Diamond, Matthew Dadich, Stephanie Leone, Gloria Brazell, Karen Elliot, Wendy Willauer, and Leah Hoopes, according to court documents.
They claimed the county's Bureau of Elections violated the Sunshine Act by not advertising the pop-up before approving it.

A hearing on the injunction was held Thursday afternoon and ultimately the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania Judge Spiros E. Angelos denied the injunction, clearing the way for the event to go on as planned.
Angelos said the petitioners failed to establish a real right to relief for a violation of the Sunshine Act."
"The County is gratified by the judge’s decision. It will allow Delaware County voters the opportunity to visit Subaru Park this weekend, and register to vote or request or drop off a mail-in ballot, or complete the entire voting process in one visit," said Delaware County Solicitor William Martin. “I am disappointed that there remain undemocratic players, who continue to file baseless litigation, as part of their ongoing voter suppression efforts. Delaware County government will continue working, so all properly registered voters have every legal opportunity to cast their ballot, whether via the U.S. mail, at a voter service site, or at their local poll on Election Day."
He concluded the ruling by saying the court is concerned that votes collected at the pop-up may be subject to appellate review and that the parties should "attempt to prepare for any such proceeding and secure if necessary the ballots produced at the mobile voter service center."
Subaru Park in Chester is hosting the pop-up from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well a noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
It will offer the same services as the three centers in Media, Upper Darby, and Chester.
Delaware County residents are invited to stop by for a variety of election services, including:
- Voter Registration
- Registration Status Confirmation
- Mail-in and Absentee Ballot Requests
- Mail-in and Absentee Ballot Drop Offs (voters can only drop off their own ballots)
- Status of your Mail-in and Absentee Ballot Request
- Polling Place Location Confirmation
- Pick up of Paper Forms and Applications (Spanish and English)
- Answers to election questions regarding paper ballots, disabled voter services, provisional ballots, vote-by-mail options, etc.
This event is for Delaware County residents only, and masks are required for all attendees.
Subaru Park is located at 1 Stadium Drive in Chester.
