Run (or walk) for our schools!

The 11th Annual Twilight Run is almost here!

For ten years the Haverford School District Education Foundation, along with members of our community, has been supporting innovative programming in our schools with the Twilight Run. This year will be the 11th year of the event.

The Haverford Township School District Education Foundation is the result of a vision held by a group of local community leaders who appreciated the school district’s excellent reputation and wished to enhance the district’s curriculum and extra-curricular activities with privately funded enrichment programs.

The foundation works closely with the school district, faculty and students, but is an independent, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. In its first large-scale project, the Foundation raised $90,152 for a state-of-the-art TV station at Haverford High School. This project led to the district designing a new, 21st century multi-media communications curriculum.

Under the mini-grant program, approximately $60,000 has been distributed by the Foundation for more than 175 innovative projects designed by students, teachers, and involved parents. The Foundation has also begun funding other large-scale projects through their School Empowerment Grants. To date, five $10,000 projects, one in each elementary school, and a $30,000 project for the Haverford Middle School have been underwritten by the foundation.

The foundation also played an important role in keeping WHHS, Haverford High School’s historic radio station on the air by helping to raise funds for the station and then match those funds.

The Twilight Run will feature a 5K run/walk, a one mile walk for elementary students, and the kids' "Finish-Line Fun Zone." There will be music and a marching band, and the Party on the Town where your race bib will get you $75 worth of free and reduced price food and drink. It is bound to be a memorable day in Haverford Township.

All proceeds from the Twilight Run and Walk support the students of Haverford Township.
