Ambulance Crew Member Hurt In Delco Crash With School Bus

The crew member of an ambulance suffered a broken leg and more when the ambulance and school bus crashed Wednesday morning.

CHESTER, PA — An ambulance crew suffered serious injury after an ambulance and school bus crashed Wednesday morning, according to officials.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred at about 8:27 a.m. on the ramp from Chester Street to Interstate 95 north.

The bus, which was ahead of the ambulance and driven by 43-year-old Wayne Brown of Brookhaven, stopped at the end of the on ramp to yield to oncoming traffic, police said.

Police said the ambulance didn't stop in time and struck the bus.

According to police the front passenger side of the ambulance hit the back driver's side of the bus, police said.

The front seat passenger of the ambulance became entrapped in the vehicle.

Fire crews then extricated the passenger and rushed him to Chester Crozer Medical Center for serious injuries, according to police. Police said the passenger is in stable condition, but suffered a broken femur and moderate bruising. He is expected to recover.

Inside the ambulance were Joshua Boylan, 36, of Media, and Nicholas Scull, 39, of Chadds Ford.

In total, four adults were taken to hospitals for various injuries.

No children were on the bus at the time of the crash, police said.

The crash closed all traffic lanes for about an hour.

PennDOT said the scene was cleared by about 11:21 a.m.
