It's been a year since the coronavirus pandemic hit Delaware County and the greater Philadelphia region. So where does Delco stand now?

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — It's been about a year since the coronavirus outbreak hit Delaware County and the Philadelphia region.

Nationwide, the virus has infected about 29.1 million people and killed roughly 525,000 people.

In Pennsylvania, about 995,000 people have been infected and 24,401 have died.

But what about Delaware County?

According to the latest data, 39,000 people have tested positive for the virus as of Tuesday.

Below are case counts by age range:

  • 10 and under — 1,550
  • 10 to 19 — 4,088
  • 20 to 29 — 6,531
  • 30 to 39 — 5,687
  • 40 to 49 — 5,294
  • 50 to 59 — 6,068
  • 60 to 69 — 4,751
  • 70 to 79 — 2,458
  • 80 and older — 2,493

Women account for 53.15 percent of all cases and men account for 46.85 percent of cases.

Upper Darby Township has the most cases to date, with 5,840 total.

Middletown Township has had the most coronavirus deaths. Tuesday's data shows 212 deaths in the township.

In Delaware County, 1,294 people have died from the virus, 800 of whom were long-term care or nursing facility residents.

The county has had 209,130 negative test results and a 90.79 percent recovery rate, as of Tuesday.
