WATCH LIVE: Ballot Pre-Canvassing Underway In Delaware County

The pre-canvass of mail-in and absentee ballots in Delaware County is underway as the county received a record number of mail-in ballots.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Election workers in Delaware County are now pre-canvassing mail-in and absentee ballots.

Now that the polls are open, pre-canvassing is underway in the Wharf building where the Bureau of Elections is located in Chester.

Pre-canvassing will take place until 8 p.m. when the polls close.

That's when the canvassing begins.

According to the county, canvassing is when officials review mail-in and absentee ballots that have been timely returned, then determine which ballots can be counted under the applicable rules, and count those ballots that are determined to be valid.

Canvassing will take place around the clock until it's done.
