Water Main Replacement To Affect Several Haverford Roads

Water main replacement will begin next week on Derwen and Merrybrook drives, as well as Colfax, Frederick, Paddock, and Golf Hills roads.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Water main replacement work in Haverford Township will begin next week as part of a $944,000 project to replace about 38 miles of mains in Delaware County.

Aqua Pennsylvania will be replacing 6,640 feet of 6-inch cast iron water mains with new 8- and 6-inch water mains on several roads.

Work is slated to begin Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Affected roads are:

  • Paddock Road, Derwen Drive, and Colfax Road between Golf Hills Road and Merrybrook Drive
  • Frederick Road between Paddock Road and Merrybrook Drive
  • Golf Hills Road between Frederick Road and house #268 Golf Hills Road west of Colfax Road,
  • Merrybrook Drive between Paddock Road and the end of the culde-sac at house #321 Golf Hills Road south of Colfax Road

Work will be done from 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays, however crews may need to work after 4 p.m. and on Saturdays in some cases.

Access will be provided for emergency, mail and trash services, and residents will have access to their properties. However, at times residents will need to enter from different directions due to changing work zones.

Following installation, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated and tested for water quality before being placed into service.

Aqua customers will be notified of any service interruptions and will be given 48 hours notice of any scheduled interruptions longer than 30 minutes.
