Wawa, Delco Brewery Team Up For Strawberry Lemonade Beer

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Two Delco staples are teaming up again to offer a new brew perfect for the summer.

Wawa and 2SP Brewing Company are joining up yet again to make the Sunfest Strawberry Lemonade Shandy.

The beer is described as "a crushable, light-bodied shore beer with a touch of strawberry sweetness and a delightful pucker finish courtesy of Wawa’s fresh lemonade."

This new brew will be available in six packs Thursday at six Wawa stores as well as at 2SP Brewing Company — 120 Concord Road, Units 101-103 in Aston — on Saturday. A list of the stores is below.

Wawa and 2SP Brewing Company are hosting two launch events from Thursday through Saturday throughout the region. At 4 p.m. Thursday, the beer will launch at Wawa’s newest location in Penrose — 2600 Penrose Ave. in Philadelphia — with a ceremonial first pour, sampling, beach themed giveaways and six packs sales, as supplies last.

Then at noon on Saturday, a release party is being held at 2SP. The event will be beach-themed and feature boardwalk style games, a mechanical surfboard, live music, food trucks, and more.

“Working closely with Wawa's beverage guru, Michael McLaughlin, we brewed a modern shandy recipe that includes a unique yeast that showcases the spectrum of flavors of Wawa's Strawberry Lemonade," Michael Contreras of 2SP Brewing Company said. "The collaborative approach to the Sunfest beer was to find that balance of upfront strawberry sweetness with a refreshing lemon citrus finish that comes from the lemonade. What's the result? A Strawberry Lemonade Shandy that sings summer crusher."

Wawa has expanded its beer and wine store footprint, with the goal of providing more convenience, from two store locations at 721 Naamans Creek Road, Chadds, Ford and 1073 Baltimore Pike, Middletown to six stores with the addition of four new locations offering beer and wine at 201 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus; 296 Route 940, Blakeslee; 1139 Horsham Road, Horsham; and 2600 Penrose Ave., Philadelphia.
