$466K Main Replacement Project Launches In Lower Moreland
It's part of $1.5 million in water main projects across Montgomery County. Motorists should plan for delays in the area.

LOWER MORELAND, PA — Aqua Pennsylvania has invested $1.5 million in infrastructure projects that are now underway in Montgomery County, they said on Friday.
Significant projects are underway across the county, including in Cheltenham, Lower Moreland, and Whitemarsh.
Officials said that the projects will reduce discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area. According to Aqua, projects include:

- Cheltenham Township: Crews are working on a $745,000 project to install 2,900 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe to replace existing 6-inch cast iron mains. The work is taking place on Church Road between Washington Lane and Chelten Hill Drive, with project completion expected in November.
- Lower Moreland Township: Crews are working on a $466,000 project to replace existing 6-inch cast iron mains with the installation of 2,790 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe. The project, which is expected to be completed in November, is taking place on the following streets: Whitman and James roads between Leonard and Andrew roads, and Andrew Road between Whitman and James roads.
- Whitemarsh Township: Crews are at work on a $385,000 project to replace existing 6-inch cast iron mains with 1,790 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron pipe. Work is expected to be completed in November and is taking place on the following streets: Malan Drive between Ridge Pike and Spring Mill Road, and Hunter Road between Spring Mill Road and the cul-de-sac.
Motorists should plan for delays in these areas and consider alternate routes.
This work is part of Aqua's larger $62.9 million capital program for 2017, officials said.
