Aqua Launches $695K Water Main Improvement Project in Lower Moreland
The work will affect traffic on several roads.

Aqua Pennsylvania is launching $4.5 million in infrastructure improvement projects throughout Montgomery County, they announced in a press release
Aqua said projects would take place in Lower Moreland, Abington, Upper Merion and Cheltenham townships.
In Upper Merion Township, crews are working on a $340,000 project to replace existing 12-inch cast iron water main on Freedom Business Center Drive between First Avenue and North Gulph Road with 1,900 feet of 12-inch ductile iron pipe, officials said. The project is expected to be complete in September.

In Lower Moreland, crews are working on a $695,000 project to replace existing 6-inch cast iron water main on Pine Road between County Line and Pheasant Drive with 2,869 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe. The project is expected to wrap up in September, the release states.
In Abington, work is already underway on a $685,000 project to install 6,482 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe, with project completion expected in November. The new main will replace existing 6-inch cast iron main on these roads:

- Blake, Shelley, Byron and Sidney roads between Andrew and Lawrence roads
- Andrew Road between Pine and Burns roads
Also in Abington Township, crews recently began working on a $1 million project to replace old 6-inch cast iron water main with 2,462 feet of 12-inch and 1,907 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe. According to the release, the work, which is expected to be complete in November, will be conducted on the following streets:
- Old Welsh Road between N. Hills and Lukens avenues
- Kimball Avenue between Old Welsh Road and Windsor Avenue
- Ridgeway Avenue between Old Welsh Road and a point 240 feet east of Old Welsh Road
- Crestview Avenue between Old Welsh Road and a point 100 feet east of Old Welsh Road
- Fleming Avenue between Old Welsh Road and Mount Vernon Avenue
- Mount Vernon Avenue between Fleming and Osbourne avenues
In a third $980,000 project in Abington Township, crews are working to replace the existing water main with 5,400 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe. Project completion is expected in November. The work will be conducted on the following streets:
- Grovania Avenue between Clearview Avenue and Keith Road
- Clearview Avenue between Grovania Avenue and Edgehill Road
- Curtis, Wayne and Ridgeview avenues and Keith Road between Grovania Avenue and Edgehill Road
In Cheltenham Township, crews are working on an $808,000 project to replace existing 6-inch cast iron water main with 4,286 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe, Aqua said.The work is expected to be complete in November and will affect these areas:
- Kingston Road between Hammond Road and New Second Street
- Wetherill Road between Hammond and Kingston roads
- New Second Street between Church Road and Tookany Creek Parkway
Aqua said that these projects will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area.
