Bryn Athyn Community Theater Presents: ‘The Pirates of Penzance’
Bryn Athyn's Community Theater serves up well-known operetta of Gilbert and Sullivan.
The Bryn Athyn Community Theater’s will have several shows of its “The Pirates of Penzance” production on the weekends of April 26 and May 3.
“The Pirates of Penzance,” which is the Bryn Athyn Community Theater’s spring offering, will take place at the Mitchell Performing Arts Center in Bryn Athyn.
According to the community theater production’s musical director Jennifer Cole, the Bryn Athyn community has a long history of putting on the famed theatrical collaborations of Gilbert and Sullivan. According to Cole, the Bryn Athyn Community Theater has put on productions of such Gilbert and Sullivan “The Sorcerer”, “Yeomen of the Guard” and “Princess Ida”, describing each of the productions as, “absolutely fabulous.”

She said that “The Pirates of Penzance” is one of their most beloved and well known and hopes it will attract large audiences at each of the performances.
According to Bryn Athyn Community Theater’s website, the community theater is staffed by volunteers, and typically offers a winter and spring theater production. It has served the Philadelphia region since 1981 [see .pdf in media gallery for list of past shows].
