“The dances of flamenco—a solo dance characterized by hand clapping, percussive footwork and intricate hand, arm and body movements—sequence much like a story,” says Peter Childs, Glencairn’s concert and lecture coordinator.

“They move from one into the next to develop a mood with the audience, so there is little artist commentary during the dance performance. However, the performers will mingle informally with the audience after the program to answer questions and discuss Brazilian classical music and flamenco.”
Acclaimed flamenco and classical Spanish dancer, choreographer and teacher Liliana Ruiz founded Philadelphia’s Suspiro Flamenco, a Spanish dance company. She has performed internationally in both plays and concerts with such artists as Placido Domingo and Julio Iglesias, and for dignitaries including King Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain.

Her musical accompaniment includes world-class guitarist Blane Bostock, who has appeared as a soloist with Latin legend Johnny Pacheco at the Allentown Symphony and Annenberg Center in “A Night of Latin Classics.” Bostock’s versatility is well-known: besides his classical style, over the years he’s played in small groups, big bands, jazz ensembles and rock, soul, disco and country bands.
Donna Bostock performs for this concert on a variety of rhythm instruments.
Zuber earned an MA in Theory with a classical guitar concentration from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music. He played guitar for Glencairn audiences most recently this past June at the Summer Soirée.
