Glencairn Museum closes doors & campus in response to COVID-19
All public events, including Sacred Arts Festival, are cancelled through 4/30.
Glencairn Museum, former home of Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn now housing a renowned collection of religious art and artifacts, remains closed to the public until further notice.
“The health, safety, and wellbeing of our community, including visitors, volunteers, and staff is paramount to Glencairn Museum,” reads the Museum’s COVID-19 Response on its website. “For this reason, the Museum is taking all possible precautions in assisting our community, including postponing or canceling all tours and public programs through April 30. As we approach that date, we will re-evaluate the situation.
“During this difficult period for so many, both locally and around the world, please join us in looking to the goodness in others and living a life of kindness.”

Brian Henderson, director, has announced that the Museum’s grounds are also closed to the public to help the community comply with social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines geared to slow the spread of the virus.
The castle-like building in Bryn Athyn, Montgomery Township, Pa., cancelled all public events beginning March 13, many of them already posted to print and online community calendars. Events affected include all daily guided tours; all sessions of the Pysanky Ukrainian Easter Eggs workshops; concerts by Elizabeth Pitcairn and Les Canards Chantants; and this year’s Sacred Arts Festival.

While access to the self-guided exhibition Sacred Adornment: Jewelry as Belief in Ancient Egypt is currently closed, the exhibition will be available through November 1 once the Museum re-opens. The March Members-Only Coffee will be rescheduled for a fall date.
At this time, Glencairn is working to make more of its programs and tours available as virtual experiences, so check the website and social pages for updates. The public can also connect with Visitor Services at 267.502.2990 or info@GlencairnMuseum.org for the latest status.
The Museum staff and volunteers look forward to welcoming the community back to Glencairn when it reopens.
