Glencairn Museum's Christmas concert set for Dec. 15, 8pm

A Pitcairn family tradition since the late 19th century, the Christmas Sing continues to inspire.

Glencairn Museum continues a Christmastime music tradition from the Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn family when it hosts the annual “Christmas Sing” on Tuesday, December 15, at 8:00pm in the Great Hall.

Tickets, which are available only at the door, are $10, free for Glencairn Museum members. (Gold members, please call 267.502.2970 or email Peter.Childs@GlencairnMuseum.org by December 14 to reserve a seat—available to Gold members only.) Doors open at 7:15pm.

The program features the “Glencairn Horns,” composed of current and former members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, including David Bilger, trumpet; Blair Bollinger, bass trombone; Matt Vaughn, trombone; Randy Gardner, horn; Daniel Williams, horn. The ensemble plays Christmas melodies and chorals that were collected and arranged in the 1920s by Anton Horner, former principal horn with the Orchestra. Other performers, readings from the Christmas story and audience caroling are interspersed throughout the program.

The Christmas Sing is part of the season-long program of events and exhibitions that are expected to draw thousands to Glencairn now through January 10. The Museum’s tours and exhibitions are closed December 14 and 15 to prepare for the concert; these reopen at noon on Wednesday, December 16. The Museum is also closed December 24 and 25 for Christmas.
