Lower Moreland On Philly Mag's '40 Best' High Schools List

Lower Moreland High School made Philly Mag's list of the "40 Best" in the region.

LOWER MORELAND, PA — A new ranking from Philadelphia Magazine analyzes the best high schools in and around Philadelphia, and Lower Moreland was included on the list.

Lower Moreland made the magazine's "40 Best Public High Schools in Philadelphia and the Suburbs" list.

The school was joined by five other schools from Montgomery County: Harriton, Lower Merion, Jenkintown, Spring-Ford, and Upper Dublin.

The ranking was created after analysis of public data from Pennsylvania and New Jersey departments of education, and the National Center for Education Statistics, according to the magazine. Factors taken into account when preparing the list include graduation rates, student to teacher ratio, and SAT scores.

"These schools make up the top fifth of our separate rankings of Philadelphia district and charter schools (81 total) and suburban public schools in the Greater Philadelphia region (127 total)," the magazine said.

According to the magazine, Lower Moreland has 751 students with an 97 percent graduation rate and a 96 percent college attendance rate.

It's got a 12:1 student-teacher ratio and an average 592 verbal and 599 math SAT scores.
