Montco Employer Of 1,000 Workers Expects Major Layoffs: Reports

Hundreds of people could soon be out of a job. Ten percent of the company worldwide will be laid off, including in Montgomery County.

HORSHAM, PA -- An international company with a significant operation in Horsham is reportedly planning on laying off about ten percent of its global workforce, according to reports.

ARRIS Group Inc., a manufacturer of cable-box and telecom-gear, is consolidating with Pace plc, and the layoffs are a consequence of the consolidation, Philly.com states.

The Georgia-based company employs about 8,500 workers around the world, including around 1,000 at its Horsham location on 101 Tournament Drive.

A company spokesperson said that Horsham operations specifically would be affected by the consolidation, the Philly Business Journal reports.

No timetable for the layoffs was provided.
