What's Open and What's Closed on Columbus Day?

Monday, Oct. 14 is Columbus Day.

Monday is Columbus Day. While many places will be open during the holiday, government buildings, schools, PennDOT and more will be closed on Monday. Here's a list of what's open and what's closed on Columbus Day in Lower Moreland Township.

Government: Montgomery County government offices closed. Lower Moreland Township offices will be open.

Libraries: Lower Moreland Township Library and Norristown Library will be open.

Schools: Lower Moreland Schools will dismiss early on Monday.  Academy of the New Church School will hold full day classes.

Trash/Recycling/Yard Waste: There will be regular trash collection in Lower Moreland Township on Columbus Day.

PennDOT Drivers License Centers: PennDOT centers will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Monday, Oct. 14 for Columbus Day.

Banks: Columbus Day is a bank holiday.

Mail: USPS will not deliver mail on Monday, Oct. 14. UPS and FedEx will still deliver.

SEPTA: SEPTA will run on the regular weekday schedule for all services.

Liquor Stores: According to the PA Liquor Control Board website, most Wine & Spirits stores will be open for their regular Monday hours. However, some will have alternate holiday hours or be closed. Call ahead before heading out.

Zoo: The Philadelphia Zoo is open 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., The Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown is open 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
