Girl, 12, Dead From Gunshot Wound In Montco: DA

COLLEGEVILLE, PA — A 12-year-old girl was found dead from a gunshot wound inside her family's home in Montgomery County, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Larchwood Court in Collegeville, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announce. Police arrived at the scene at around 7:51 a.m.

Details surrounding the death remain murky. The child was in the living room of the home when police arrived, and other members of the family were present, police said.

The child, who had suffered a single gunshot wound, was dead when officers arrived, officials said. A firearm was recovered from the scene.

The identity of the child was not released.

An investigation is underway. Montgomery County Detectives and Upper Providence Police are working on the case together.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.
