Area Soccer Clubs Join Forces to Form Premier-Level Program

FC Montco will give elite local players a chance to get professional training and to compete at the premier level.

From FC Montco:

Methacton United, Towamencin and Jeffersonville soccer clubs have joined to form FC Montco, a premier-level program created to provide elite players a local opportunity to compete at the premier level while receiving professional training and development in preparation for playing at the high school and collegiate levels.  FC Montco is not exclusive to the partner clubs and is open to all serious players in the area.

Unique Partnership

The Methacton United, Towamencin and Jeffersonville clubs have formed this unique partnership with the youth player in mind. Under FC Montco, players will stay with their local clubs until they reach the age of 12 and then the elite players will be able to join other elite players from area clubs.

"I have seen too many 12- and 13-year-olds faced with the tough decision of leaving their friends to play at a higher level," sai Bill Gray, president of Methacton United. "This will provide them the ability to continue to play with some of their friends for FC Montco."

Under the partnership, the clubs will offer special training and spring select programs to the younger 7- to 11-year-old club players under the FC Montco name.

"We always focus on development from the youngest ages and this partnership will provide advanced training for the younger players while giving them the opportunity to play with better players outside of their home club," said Chris Felber, director of coaching for Towamencin.

The club will be organized, managed and administered by the partner clubs.

"Most premier clubs are managed by professional trainers and at times this creates a conflict between what is best for the players and what is best for the trainer," said Greg Frederick, president of Jeffersonville.

Developing the Complete Player and Playing Attractive Soccer

FC Montco’s two-part plan is to develop "complete players" while playing "attractive soccer." Our goal is to help players reach their maximum potential by working to develop the core qualities of complete players, including:

  • Discipline
  • Confidence
  • Motivation
  • Organization
  • Responsibility
  • Creativity

In conjunction with the developing of complete players, FC Montco will play attractive soccer – soccer that infuses speed and creativity into every component of the technical and tactical aspects of the game. Attractive soccer is very enjoyable to watch but even more fun to play. To achieve this truly unique two-part approach, FC Montco will provide top quality professional trainers with experience at the high school and college levels.

Levels of Play

Too often teams play at unrealistic levels that impede their development as individuals and teams. Each FC Montco team will be evaluated by the club and placed in the realistic, appropriate level of play that will correspond to the State Cup system – National, Presidents, and Challenge. Teams will then play applicable leagues/divisions and tournaments.

Openings Available

FC Montco is open to all players, not just players from partner clubs. We are looking for serious committed players from U13 through U18 that are aspiring to play at the high school and college levels.

The 2013 season will start with two teams: U13 Boys and U16 Boys. These teams are having open tryouts in April and May.  Visit the FC Montco website at www.fcmontco.com for tryout details. In 2014 we will be looking to have teams at all age groups for boys and girls U13-U18.
