TROOPER, PA — The remodeled intersection on Ridge Pike is taking shape, as Lidl has confirmed an opening date this September.

Lidl, the German discount supermarket chain, will open at the intersection of Trooper Road and Ridge Pike on Sept. 18, the store officially announced Wednesday.

A ribbon-cutting event will be held at 7:40 a.m., and various giveaways and special offers will be held throughout that weekend in celebration. The first 100 shoppers will receive a gift card ranging from $5 to $100, and there will be various free samples throughout the store.

“As a Philly native, I am extremely excited to bring Lidl’s high quality and low prices close to home,” Trooper Store Manager Darnell Mason said in a statement. “The team and I are eager to open our doors next month and introduce customers in Trooper to the award-winning, high quality products and convenient shopping experience.”

Lidl has 10,800 stores globally, and their recent expansion in the U.S. has them at 65 stores domestically. That includes new branches in Upper Providence and Towamencin.

Lidl is opening in Trooper at an intersection that presently holds a Wawa and Citadel Bank at one corner and a Burger King at another. Lidl will move into the corner that previously held Norristown Ford, while a new Dunkin Donuts will slide into the other opening.

The newly built Trooper store will feature six wide aisles and "plentiful natural light," according to the company.

Hours will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
