Methacton Appoints Dr. Jeffrey Miller to Acting Superintendent

Dr. Miller, who retired as superintendent for Methacton School District in 2007, will return while the board searches for a permanent replacement for Dr. Quinn, who stepped down last month.

According to a release issued by Methacton School District, the district's board of school directors appointed Dr. Jeffrey A. Miller as acting superintendent of schools in a special meeting Tuesday night, April 9. Dr. Miller will hold the position while the board searches for a permanent replacement for Dr. Timothy Quinn, .

Methacton parents may remember that Dr. Miller previously served as the district's superintendent from 2003 to 2007. According to the district, Dr. Miller has more than 40 years experience in public education including as a teacher in in the Quakertown School District and superintendent for the Lower Dauphin and Midd-West school districts as well as Methacton. He has also served as assistant to the superintendent for curriculum and instruction and as a principal.

"Dr. Miller has a wealth of experience in several key areas, in addition to having a personal history with Methacton that will enable him to hit the ground running while we conduct our search," Methacton School Board President Joyce Petrauskas wrote in the release from the district. "Jeff cares deeply for the students, faculty and staff of Methacton; the board is confident that our schools are in good hands."

Dr. Miller's recent employment includes private and contract consultation work including educational planning, enrollment and consolidation studies for several districts; consultant work for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and for several school districts conducting superintendent searches; and other private consulting work.

Dr. Miller will begin his appointment immediately and will hold the position for no longer than one year, according to The Times Herald.
