Methacton Senior to Sing with State Choruses

Emily Drummond was selected to perform with the 2013 All-Eastern Treble Voice Chorus and the 2013 PMEA All-State Chorus this month.

Emily Drummond, senior at Methacton High School, has been selected by the National Association for Music Education and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) to perform with the 2013 All-Eastern Treble Voice Chorus and the 2013 PMEA All-State Chorus.

Emily's 2012 All-State performance in Lancaster qualified her for the 2013 All-Eastern Festival at the Eastern Division Conference of the National Association for Music Education. This conference is held every two years and brings together elite high school musicians from 13 states. This year's conference runs from Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 7 and will culminate in a performance attended by thousands at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, Connecticut.

The 2013 PMEA All-State Festival will be held in Erie from Thursday, April 18 through Sunday, April 21. The festival includes the best high school musicians statewide, who rehearse together and perform at the annual PMEA state conference.

Emily will be singing in the Soprano 1 section and is the only musician representing Methacton High School in both festivals this year. Under the direction of Elizabeth Francisco, Emily sings in several vocal performance groups at Methacton while serving as a leading member of the Methacton Theatre Company and Warriors Performance Group. Emily also occasionally performs vocals and piano with local rock favorite, Orphaned Android.
