A Montco Fire Dept Donated 100 Thanksgiving Dinners To The Needy

NORRISTOWN, PA — The Norristown Fire Department serves the community in more than just one way.

Last week, the department donated full Thanksgiving dinners to 100 local families in need. It marked the fifth annual year of the turkey drive, put together by Norristown's Fire Chief Tom O'Donnell.

“The Fire Department wanted the chance to give back to the community we serve," O’Donnell said. "Seeing the smiles it brings to the families, it means everything to us."

The department made special deliveries to local veterans, including the family of Samuel Jackson, a Marine Corps veteran who was killed in a hit and run earlier in November.

Families picked up their meals at the Montgomery Hose Fire Company, which included a fresh turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, yams, stuffing, corn, gravy, cranberry sauce, and dessert.

As a bonus, each package also included some extra fire safety tips.

Several local businesses contributed toward the dinners, including Aman’s Indian Bistro, Altieri Meats, JP Warner Associates, Dekalb Street Thriftway, ServPro, American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Signarama, US Maintenance, Randolph Insurance, and Save A Lot.
