Possible Child Luring Incident Under Investigation

Lower Providence Police are seeking information on five men in a white cargo van who offered a 9-year-old a ride home.

Lower Providence Police are looking for information about a suspicious incident that happened on Defford Place in the Eagle Duplexes in Eagleville.

Officers were reportedly dispatched to the area on Monday at 12:05 p.m., for a report of a suspicious incident. On the scene, a 9-year-old girl who lives in the Eagle Duplexes told police that a white cargo van with a door on the passenger side approached her as she sat on a curb near her home.

The van was reportedly being driven by a white male and the cargo area was occupied by four other white males. The girl told police that several of the men engaged her in conversation and asked to give her a ride home. She refused and the men left the area.

Authorities say there was no physical contact and the girl was not harmed in the incident, but police are investigating the incident and are seeking information about the identities of the five men. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lower Providence Police Department at 610-539-5901. 

Authorities are encouraging residents to talk with their children about talking with strangers and other incidents similar to this one.
