Seasonal Hires Wanted: Camp Perkiomy Is Just Around the Corner
Lower Providence Township seeks counselors for popular summer camp.

While national parks such as Valley Forge may have to make cuts to its seasonal hires this year due to sequester, those in the Lower Providence Township area are still in luck. The township is seeking summer help.
Lower Providence Township's Parks and Recreation Department operates its annual "Camp Perkiomy." This year, the camps have expanded to cover more age groups, as Patch reported in January.
To run all those camps, many employees are needed. From camp counselors, to camp coordinators, site supervisors to arts and crafts specialists, a wide variety of roles are up for grabs.

The camps run from Monday, June 17 to Friday, Aug. 2. Camps vary in location, based on age groupings, but include sites at Eagleville Park, Evansburg Point Park and three local elementary schools in the Methacton School District.
Job pay is based on experience, with some roles requiring full college educations. Pay ranges from $7.25 per hour for high school juniors and seniors, up to $15 per hour for qualified camp coordinators.

Acccording to the township, these are some important factors to note regarding the jobs available:Â
- Criminal Background Checks and Child Abuse Clearances are requiredÂ
- Previous employment with the Township does not guarantee rehire
- Employee is required to participate in Staff Orientation (Tentative date: Tuesday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 12)
- Summer Camp Staff positions are physical and active positions which include running, standing, walking, etc.
- Employees must also be able to work in various climate conditions when necessary – high heat, humidity, rain, etc.
- Positions are classified as part-time seasonal employment.Â
