Snapshot: Lower Providence Township Welcomes its Newest Fire Police

Charles Miller Sr. and Christine Russell were sworn in as Lower Providence Township Fire Police Officers at the Oct. 18 board of supervisors meeting.

Two new Lower Providence Township fire police officers were sworn into their respective offices at the Oct. 18 Board of Supervisors meeting.

Prior to being sworn in, Charles Miller Sr. and Christine Russell participated as observers during emergency calls.

Rick Brown, board of supervisors chairman, administered the oath of office to Miller and Russell.

According to Brown, just as the township’s fire department, fire police officers are also volunteers. Their duties call them out to scenes of emergency or accidents at all hours of the day or night in order to direct traffic and keep passersby safe.

“We really need these folks, and we’re lucky to have volunteers,” Brown said.
