202 Crash Sends Four to Area Hospitals
One person is in intensive care after morning accident that closed Route 202 for four hours in Tredyffrin.
A multi-vehicle crash on Route 202 near Cedar Hollow Road in Tredyffrin Township sent four people to the hospital Tuesday morning. Â
The most seriously injured person was flown by helicopter to Reading Hospital where police say he was in stable condition in the  intensive care unit.  Tredyffrin Police Sgt. Todd Bereda tells Patch the other injured people were taken to the Paoli Hospital Trauma Center and were being treated and released by mid day Tuesday.
Tredyffrin Police say the crash happened at 8:46 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 202.  The crash involved a tractor trailer truck and four passenger vehicles including an SUV.  The force of the impact cause some of the vehicles to push the concrete "jersey wall" barriers into the oncoming lanes of southbound traffic. Exactly what caused the crash is still under investigation, Bereda said.
It took a little over four hours for rescue teams and a county accident investigation team to clear the scene.  Traffic in both directions was moving again by 4 p.m..  Bereda told Patch that it is too early in the investigation to know whether there would be any citations or charges as a result of the investigation.
In a press release summing up the accident and investigation, Tredyffrin Township Police said "Tredyffrin Twp. Police Department wishes to thank our surrounding law enforcement and EMS agencies with their help into the investigation and traffic control support including East Whiteland Twp. PD, Upper Uwchlan Twp. PD, Pennsylvania State Police, Willistown Twp. PD, West Goshen Twp. PD. , Paoli Fire Company and Berwyn Fire Company."
