Pals For Life Names New Executive Director

Devon-based Pals For Life has appointed Arthur Silverman as Executive Director of the organization that provides pet visits and therapy.

DEVON, PA — Pals For Life, an animal-assisted therapy organization based in Devon, has named a new executive director after its founder stepped out of the lead role.

The Pals For Life Board of Directors announced the appointment of Arthur Silverman as Executive Director.

Silverman replaces Paula Kielich, founder of Pals For Life, as she retires after 37 years of service. Kielich's innovative and inspirational approaches to the human spirit are unparalleled in the animal-assisted therapy field, a news release from the organization said. "Her expertise and guiding hand will still be present as she will remain with Pals For Life as President of its Board of Directors," the statement said.

Silverman previously worked as Director of Fundraising and Marketing for CONCERN — Professional Services for Children, Youth, and Families, a regionally based human services organization. He had also been employed as Development Director by Sebastian Riding Associates, a Collegeville-based organization dedicated to providing equine therapy to children and adults with disabilities.

Silverman received his bachelor's degree in Political Science from Temple University and earned an MBA from West Chester University. He also possesses certificates in Nonprofit Management from LaSalle University and Fundraising Management from the University of Pennsylvania.

Serving local communities since 1984, Pals For Life is a nonprofit community-based animal-assisted therapy organization dedicated to meeting the mental health and emotional needs of children, teens, adults, and seniors.

Its pet visitation programs meet autistic and special needs. Pals For Life offers middle, high school, and college-based programs, as well as corporate wellness programs, one-on-one visitations, and a read-to pet pal program that helps children improve their literacy skills, confidence, and self-esteem.
