Rehabbed Reitenbaugh Barn Will Be Company's HQ
The barn, located at Planebrook and Swedesford roads, is the answer to last week's historical photo challenge.
As one commenter pointed out, last week's historical photo challenge could be considered "a gift."Â
david shaver was the first commenter, and the first to answer correctly:
corner of planebrook and swedesford rds.
According to the East Whiteland Historical Commission, the barn is the Adam Reitenbaugh barn, built circa 1839. Â The photo was taken in December 1979.Â

Commission member Tim Caban passed along this information about the barn:
This is probably a very easy one for most people but I chose it to highlight an example of adaptive reuse that is currently taking place.
A company has purchased the building and is rehabilitating it for their headquarters. The barn grew around the White Horse tavern, just to the West. This was part of the 18th and 19th century crossroads community known as White Horse.
The building has been in disrepair for many years and it is wonderful to see it being rehabilitated with respect to it's historic characteristics while being put to use once again.
The current photo comes from Carla Zambelli, who weeks ago posted the photo to the Malvern Patch Facebook page.

Kudos to Sue Drummond, NR G, Diana Genn, Judi Adams, Mike M, Kristin Thomas, Eric Erickson and MacTavish14, all of whom registered correct guesses after david shaver.
And remember—just because it looks like an easy one doesn't mean it is. Let's not forget the Great Pondwater Misidentification of 2013.
