Breaking Glass Set Off Alarm In Exton Home, Ended In Charges
An alarm got triggered in a Whiteland Hills Circle home in Exton early Monday morning as a man allegedly broke a window to gain entry.
EXTON, PA — Police encircled an Exton residence early Monday waiting more than an hour for a suspect to emerge who had busted a window and gained entry.
An alarm went off at 4:30 Monday morning when someone broke a window and got into a home in Whiteland Hills Circle, police reported.
When West Whiteland Township Police officers responded to the triggered alarm a suspect was inside the home. Officers then formed a perimeter around the home in the 100 block of Whiteland Hills Circle, according to the police report.

The police report said Bryan R. Smith, 36, came out of the home at 6:15 a.m. and police took him into custody without incident.
Smith is charged with Burglary, Overnight Accommodation; Criminal Trespass Entering a Structure; Criminal Trespass Breaking into a Structure — all felonies. He is also charged with Criminal Mischief, Tampering with Property; and Theft by Unlawful Taking, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 8.
