Devon 50 Hosting Drop-Off At St. Isaac Jogues Church In Wayne

MALVERN, PA — One year after their 2020 food drive, Devon 50 Troop is still in masks, and still collecting food to help those in need.

Last year, Devon 50 partnered with Wayne Food Pantry and collected about 15 tons of non-perishables and canned food in the Troop's drive. This year, organizers said, the Troop is partnering with Great Valley Food Cupboard and hoping to beat their own record from last year.

Keeping the Great Valley Food Cupboard filled takes a community as the need for food has increased everywhere during the coronavirus pandemic.

On March 27, Scouts from Devon 50 Troop will be onsite in the St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church parking lot, in Wayne, ready to move food from vehicles.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 27, Devon 50 Troop will collect food as the community brings it in, drive-through style in the church parking lot. Donations will help stock the food cupboard to help families that are at risk for food insecurity.

Dry, canned, bagged, or boxed foods are needed as well as toiletries. Gift cards from grocery retailers are also accepted, Devon 50 said in a news statement.

"This is a great opportunity for families in the area to support this urgent community need and donate food, gift cards, or checks," one of the organizers said. Checks made out to "Great Valley Food Cupboard" can be dropped off during food drive or mailed to Devon 50 at: P.O. Box 633, Southeastern, PA 19399, organizers said.

St. Isaac Jogues Church is at 50 W. Walker Road in Wayne.
