East Whiteland Teachers Accused Of Abuse Waive Hearings

Jessica Kochanski and Alison Soria both waived their hearings after being accused abusing students at Chesterbrook Academy.

EAST WHITELAND, PA — Two former teachers at an East Whiteland school waived their preliminary hearings related to abuse charges filed against hem.

Jessica Kochanski, 32, of Havertown and Alison Soria, 39, of Jenkintown, former teacher at Chesterbrook Academy, waived their hearings on Nov. 15 and Dec. 6, respectively.

Kochanski is facing endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault charges.

Soria is facing the same charges, but the endangering the welfare of a child charge is graded as a felony.

The two are free on bail.

Soria has a preliminary arraignment slated for Jan. 2, 2020, court records show.

Kochanski had her formal arraignment Dec. 5, according to court records.

Kochanski and Soria are no longer employed at the academy, but a third teacher is being investigated for abuse.

The two were charged after East Whiteland Police were tipped off by a former employee.

A parent who claims their child was a victim of abuse said 10 families were contacted as potential victims.
