Free Suicide Prevention Training In Malvern

Like CPR, QPR is a set of skills used to intervene when someone is thinking of self harm, and you can learn it at the Malvern Library.

MALVERN, PA — Suicide is often a preventable tragedy. And the Malvern Library wants to teach you how to potentially save the life of someone thinking of self harm.

The library is hosting a free suicide prevention training at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Community members are invited to attend the free training, which highlights QPR.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer.

These are three steps that will be taught to those in attenadance so they can intervene in the event of a self-harm situation.

People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

The evidence-based training prepares you to perform QPR with confidence and ease.

Registration is preferred but walk ins are welcome. You can sign up online here or by calling the library at 610-644-7259.

If the library is closed for any reason, such as snow, the training will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
