Great Valley Caring Hands Collecting For Kids In Need

MALVERN, PA — Kids living in poverty and suffering homelessness have many setbacks, but one organization helps tens of thousand every year with donated toys, school supplies, and clothing.

Philadelphia Cradles to Crayons emphasizes that Philadelphia is one of America's poorest large cities, with about 300,000 children in the region living in poverty. The non-profit serves over 70,000 children here every year.

Great Valley Community Organization's Caring Hands foundation is teaming up with Cradles to Crayons for a donation drive that will benefit children in southeast Philadelphia and Camden, NJ.

Donated items will be gathered into "Kid Packs" that fit specific needs and wants of children. Caring Hands will help Cradles to Crayons with an ongoing drive for clothing, sneakers, diapers, baby books, toys, new arts and crafts supplies, and other items that kids are likely to need.

Caring Hands foundation is part of the Great Valley Community Organization and the groups are working in association with Cradles to Crayons of Philadelphia this year to help provide those items.

GVCO Caring Hands has designated a drop-off site for donations at 51 N. Bacton Hill Road, Malvern. Donations will be taken until Nov. 15. Donations guidelines can be found here.

Cradles to Crayons organization is in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Boston. Its mission is the help children 12 and younger who are in homeless or low-income situations by providing essential material items they need to thrive.

"On a human level, what we do is bring a little sunshine into the life of a family or child in need," Cradles to Crayons website said.
