Horse Rescued After Falling Into Covered Willistown Pool
The horse somehow got past a fence of a private property in Willistown Wednesday morning and fell through the covered pool.
WILLISTOWN, PA — A horse fell into a covered pool in Willistown Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.
The Malvern Fire Company said it and the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company Large Animal Rescue Team were dispatched for a horse that had fallen into a pool in Willistown at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the fire company, the horse, which Daily Local News reports is 17 years old and is stabled on the property, wandered out of her barn and into the back yard.

The horse, named Saphia, then fell through the pool cover.
Her owners found her and called 911, as well as a veterinarian.

Crews on scene sedated the horse to calm her down and used straps a sled, and pulley system to safely get her out of the pool as she became more fatigued while trying to get out on her own.
The fire company said Saphia was walking around after the sedatives wore off appears to be doing well.
