Main Line Group Holding Seminar On Kids' Tech Dependency Next Week

Technology is all around us, and our kids. With the ubiquity of technology, many kids are dependent on phones, tablets, computers, and more.

Luckily, Area Residents Caring and Helping (ARCH) is hosting an event for parents whose kids are glued to screens.

From 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at Hillside Elementary School, 507 Howellville Road, Berwyn, two local experts will share with parents how to navigate and handle kids' tech dependency at the event, titled "Negotiating Their Tech Dependency."

Lisa Lukens, a teacher on Assignment for Technology in Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, will present along with Berwyn-based Licensed Clinical Social Worker Kim Zahlaway.

The event will cover:

• Implementing rules for the safe use of app-driven devices (such as iPads, smartphones, etc.);
• Exploring our connected culture reality;
• Defining “Generation Z” and their tech preferences;
• Reinforcing the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District Digital Citizenship curriculum at home.

The discussion will focus on kids in Kindergarten through sixth grade.

ARCH is a non profit coalition of parents, educators, and community members committed to promoting the well-being of youth in Tredyffrin and Easttown townships.
